28th March – Bluebell Wood

We had a very productive morning in the Bluebell Wood yesterday. Brian led the project with 9 of us working and visits from our chairman, Chris Gossop and Barry to inspect progress !

Some of our local residents had been very busy building a dam across the stream, using up a lot of our woodchip that we had planned to use for footpaths. Roger and Chris waded in and within an hour cleared all the debris and even salvaged some of the wood chip to use as mulch around the new trees.

The Park Trust had supplied us with 25 Hazel whips with mulch matting, spirals and pegs so Lesley, Christine, Pat and Margaret set to planting these across the Bluebell Wood, so Big Thank You to our Parks Trust for helping us with this project.

After clearing the stream, Roger and Chris cleared the remainder of our wood chip pile, again supplied by the Parks Trust, to almost finish the path from the Green Ride to Milesmere.

Another excellent morning working together.
