7th June 2026 – Park Gateway, School and Post Office

Lesley started with tiny plugs and grew them on at home for planting out today.

After taking a rain check on Saturday we were out on Sunday morning replanting all the pots outside the dentist and the school. Also planted up new plant troughs outside the Post Office and secured them to the railings.

We used Begonia Apricot Shades, Sweet Caroline Sweet Potato Vine and Tidal Wave Petunias across all three areas.

23rd May – Local Park

Part of the Ashbrook Corridor in the Local Park – High St to Bridge

Hot work at the local park on Saturday morning but we managed to clear some dangling and abandoned tree branches, clear space around the trees we have previously planted, general tidy up and yet another letter pick!

16th May – Fish and Chip Shop Verge Garden

We made a start on the verge garden outside the fish and chip shop on Saturday morning. We cleared a lot of the dead plants and weeds, dug over and cleared up all the rubbish.

We are planning to plant up to make a nice all year round display.

9th May – Bee Garden

Having planted a number of wildflowers in the bee garden recently, a number of people came out in the sunshine on Saturday morning to clear weeds from around them, giving them room to grow. You can see they had a little extra ‘helper’ too!
The team also replaced some of the log borders and mounted a bat box. 🦇🦇
The birds, bees and butterflies are already enjoying the area. 🐦🐝🦋

25th April 2026 – Post Office Verge Garden – One Stop Planters and Kepwick Garden and Hedgerow

Our Parish Council has given us a grant to cultivate and plant up the small garden outside the Post Office and the planters outside One Stop.
Following previous visits to prepare the ground, Lesley and Barry led the work on Saturday morning to plant up both areas, with space for more to be added when they are ready. We will keep an eye on the new plants to keep them watered and have also asked the shop managers to do the same, but if you see they look a bit dry please help too.
We also continued our work on the garden area and hedge row in Kepwick, led by Roger.
Once again it was nice to get so many encouraging comments from people passing by.

18th April – Bluebell Wood Wild Garden

This is the other project we ran on Saturday morning, in the Bluebell Wood Wild Garden, ran by Lesley and Brian. There was a lot of clearing of weeds before planting and Simon can be seen here getting stuck into the task. Careful laying out of the new plants to hopefully grow and take hold and provide a good display and attract bees.

Finishing touches by Simon and then plants carefully laid out
