Annual Report on our Sites and Events (2019-2020): Chapter 7

Annual Report

– Virtual Open Gardens 2020

We were getting geared up for our June 2020 5th Open Gardens, with 14 gardens on offer, when the Covid-19 pandemic struck. When it had sunk in that Open Gardens 2020 could not go ahead as planned, it occurred to us that we could still create a Virtual Open Gardens.

Eight of our gardeners agreed to take part. The long spring lock-down proved a golden opportunity for them to spend time and imagination planning for the summer and enjoying the great outdoors to the full, despite all the restrictions on movement.

Below are ‘tasters’ of the gardens – all wonderful in their varied aspects. To enjoy the full experience,  visit here and relive the best of last summer – bottled sunshine!

An enormous thank you to all who so generously took part in this initiative – the Gardeners, the Steering Committee who saw it all through, our photographer Dave Barratt, who took many of the photos and our webmaster Chris Monk, who designed and put together the Virtual Open Gardens Gallery.

We hope to hold an actual Open Gardens in 2022. So, if you feel inspired by what you see here, get in touch and help us to create another wonderful event.
